Our Mission

Our Why

For decades, children have been taught about “stranger danger” — but the painful reality is that most child sexual abuse is committed by someone the child knows. Family members. Trusted adults. People in positions of care.

We are a mother and two daughters team, and in our family, the abuser was the father and husband. The truth didn’t emerge until adulthood, which only highlights how manipulative, secretive, and strategic abusers can be — grooming not just the child, but the whole family.

The statistics are horrifying, and they likely underrepresent the truth. Many survivors never report their abuse out of fear, confusion, or shame. In Australia:

  • 1 in 3 girls

  • 1 in 5 boys
will experience sexual abuse before the age of 15.

The majority of perpetrators are not strangers—they are family members or people close to the child.

Being asked to keep an "unhappy secret" by someone they love and trust is one of the most cruel forms of manipulation. It creates lifelong confusion, pain, and silence. The long-term impact of childhood sexual abuse can include chronic PTSD, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, relationship struggles, addiction, sexual dysfunction, and for some… it costs them their life.

Our Mission

Through this book, we aim to empower children with body safety knowledge, emotional awareness, and the courage to speak up.

We want to help children:

  • Understand the difference between a safe surprise and an unsafe secret

  • Recognise unsafe behaviours and boundary violations, even from people they know

  • Learn that their body belongs to them

  • Find the strength to tell a safe adult, even when they’re scared

We understand that this is a deeply sensitive topic. Some may feel uncomfortable with its content — but discomfort is often where change begins. The reality is, more people than we realise are holding painful secrets, and every child deserves protection, truth, and a voice.

This book is our brave step toward breaking the silence.
For our past.
For your children.
For a safer future.
